James T. Sears

James T. Sears, PhD, is a licensed S.C. Broker and Realtor, working with AgentOwned. He specializes in buying and selling residential real estate (single family homes, multi-family units, vacant land) and manages residential rental properties.

Sears is an Accredited Buyer Representative. The ABR® designation is the benchmark of excellence in buyer representation. This coveted designation is awarded to real estate practitioners by the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council (REBAC) of the National Association of REALTORS® who meet the specified educational and practical experience criteria. He is certified as a short sale specialist and is a Certified International Property Specialist designee. He is also a At Home With Diversity® specialist through the National Association of Realtors, with hands-on experience and knowledge in working within a variety of cultures and in different countries.

Sears’ Realtor philosophy can be summed up as providing the utmost in integrity, quality, and care. His educational background includes a Masters from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his PhD from Indiana University, which awarded him its outstanding alumni award. He also earned a Fulbright award along with numerous awards for his research and writing.

His writing, which includes more than 20 books and hundreds of articles, is in three major areas: real estate investment and analysis; education; and gay studies. James Sears has taught at Indiana University, Penn State, College of Charleston, Trinity University, University of South Carolina, and Harvard. He continues to lecture around the world, most recently in Finland and Brazil.
